Strategic meeting in Bucharest to strengthen youth participation in local decision-making
On 8–9 September 2025, representatives of youth organisations from Timișoara, the Municipality of Timișoara, and FITT took part in a working session in Bucharest with Ms Roxana Chirițoiu, Romania’s Youth Delegate to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss local co-management mechanisms in the context of the revised European Charter on the Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life, to reflect on the progress of the TYPIC – Timișoara Youth Participation in Co-Management project, and to connect local developments with European standards and practices.
The agenda included:
- presentation of the current status of the Timișoara Youth Consultative Council (CCTT);
- a planning workshop on the next steps for strengthening the local co-management structure;
- a peer-learning session among youth and institutional representatives;
- a reflection session facilitated by FITT on values, challenges, and opportunities for youth engagement in community life.
Key conclusions highlighted the institutional commitment to implementing co-management, the identification of new channels of collaboration between youth and authorities, and the drafting of an activity calendar for 2026.
This initiative reinforces Timișoara’s role as a pilot city for youth participation and contributes to the development of a democratic local culture where young people are recognised as active partners in shaping community life.
